Did you ever feel like you don’t belong?
I did. I do. Most of my childhood I was the odd one. Honestly, it never bothered me. Not even the slightest. I guess that, accepting that as a fact already liberated me in a way. It gave me… Opportunity.
And you may wonder – how? Well, If everyone already thinks you’re odd, why would they care—or even be surprised—if you try something outrageous?
Move to a country you don’t speak the language of? Why not! Learn to ride a motorcycle? Sure! Do sports that most people don’t care for? Go for it! Wear black all year long, even on a sweltering hot day? Of course! After all, you’re the odd one, right?
That is liberating. Knowing that anything you do is actually accepted. You don’t have to worry about other people’s opinions, other people’s judgements. Instead, cherish the opportunity they have given you to do something outrageous.
I, for example, am trying to move to USA. That’s an insane feat for someone like me. All my family and friends are here in Europe. All of my accomplishments, things, vehicles… All of it is here. But it still doesn’t feel like I belong. It doesn’t feel like home.
USA, on the other hand, always did. I can’t explain it, it just did. So that’s why I’m doing my best. Even if it is absolutely insane, and difficult, I can do it.
What I mean to say is, even if sometimes you feel like an outcast, that is not necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes that is enough of a push for you to accomplish something amazing. After all, life is just a game and we only get to do it once. Live a little. I believe in you!
